'Bridging Frontiers' by the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra - 21 June 2014 (Sat)

The Metropolitan Festival Orchestra goes on a second outing this coming Saturday with Bridging Frontiers, featuring two concertos on the programme: a Chinese-influenced piece for erhu duo by composer Liu Xi-Jin and Richard Strauss's Horn Concerto no.1. Personally speaking, the latter is a favourite of mine, as it is required playing for every horn player in the music college that I attended, so I'm looking forward to hearing it live again in a professional setting. Adam Gyorgy's Piano Masterclass at Steinway Gallery

Hungarian pianist Adam Gyorgy is a young virtuoso at only 31 but that hasn't stopped him from teaching students whenever his touring schedule allows. Budding local pianist Wang Congyu credits him as an important mentor. I got to spend a nice Saturday morning observing him mentor three young pianists at the Steinway Gallery at Palais Renaissance.

Gramophone Hall of Fame 2013

Gramophone is getting your thoughts on who to induct into their Hall of Fame this year. You get 10 votes out of a huge list of conductors, instrumentalists and of course, singers! Don't bother searching out for Callas though because she has already been inducted eons ago. My votes went to Mackerras, Caballe, Tito Gobbi and Renee Fleming among others. You can chip in your own two cents here:

SLO Art Exhibition in Support of Voice Scholarship - 15 - 18 Nov 2012

Here's more info:

========================

Dear Friends

The Old Parliament House , Intercultural Theatre Institute and Singapore Lyric Opera has a joint project, Artworks, to raise funds so that needy students are able to have the opportunity to learn singing as in the case of SLO where we offer 10 singing scholarships to young children to join our Children’s Choir and have one of the best times of their lives ; OPH for their BT Budding Arts Fund and ITI for their acting students.

We are hoping to raise more money from the remaining paintings at Affordable Art Fair, happening from 15 to 18 November 2012, which kindly gave Artworks a booth to sell these reminding paintings. Unsold paintings by the end of December 2012 will be returned back to BT Arts Fund/OPH.

Look forward to your support and if you know of friends who collects paintings or interested in their bit for charity, we appreciate your kindness.
